The Corvair sold on eBay for $2,025.99.

If I'm honest, I was surprised twice. First when it got up to $2,025.99 a few days ago, and again when it didn't move at the last minute as happens sometimes. But I'm definitely not disappointed, it's 2.5x what I paid for the car, so...worked out well for everybody.

The buyer already paid me a deposit, and he's going to pay the balance in a day or two via Paypal. We were going to do a wire transfer, but I'll suck it up and pay the Paypal fee for the sake of convenience.

Now I just have to figure out what's next. '71 XJ6 is looking mighty good right now...

Not bad at all. Weren't you looking at getting a Roadrunner?

I was looking at a '66 Le Mans station wagon, which I think is as close as I got to a Roadrunner. I've been looking at everything, somebody could tell me I was talking about a DeLorean last week and I'd believe it.

So he doesn't work on an off-shore oil rig then?

The age of it actually doesn't worry me at all, because this is part of my daily life:

Kinja'd!!!

And it has this:

Kinja'd!!!

Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for the greatest evil sits in my garage every night.

Not as far from that as you'd think! He called me from Russia! He's actually from Louisiana, but he's doing work over there. Setting up the shipping for it now. Really cool guy, not a Corvair fan, he just liked the way the car looks. And actually, I'm really happy because he says he's going to leave it exactly how it is...blue door and all.

I once sold a camera on eBay to be shipped to Russia, then got the proceeds reversed once the guy who they'd faked out realized he'd been duped. Be careful.

An interesting twist - the address the thief gave me turned out to be undeliverable, so I got the camera body back 4 months later. It's still in a box, somewhere ....

Oh! Becareful it's not one of those scammers, not sure if you have come across them before, but they can be crafty and somehow convince you to transfer money to them after gaining your confidence.

I think if you using PayPal your covered, just don't let it go till its paid for in full. It sounds a bit strange that he's not a Corvair fan yet bought it and he is shipping it to Russia but it's probably just my tinfoil hat talking. Hope it all goes well for you.

you know what looks real pretty?

Kinja'd!!!

triple Weber carbs

actually i have no idea if they'll fit a XJ6 since they're made for an e-type but the early engines can't be that different

Weird. Nah, the car is going to Louisiana though, not to Russia. But I feel better doing that stuff through PayPal, really cuts down on potential funny business.

I'd imagine they would fit on the motor...its a 4.2. The question would be one of space in the engine compartment, but it looks pretty spacey in there. And that's 100% the route I'd be going with the engine in the XJ6.

Oh he's not shipping to Russia, he's just working there until March. The car is going to Louisiana to be there when he gets back. PayPal is great for that stuff though, they're awesome at covering fraud.

you probably won't have a space problem but i know nothing about the early cars. But i do know that webers are worth the price and are the best carbs for any performance car

Kinja'd!!!

plus they also make some amazing noise

That's basically like asking a Jew to eat pork. To me, a Jag with an American engine in it is barely a Jag anymore. We call them lumps, or occasionally "halfbreeds."

With the V12, I kinda understand it, since theres a perception that they're complex (they're not) and unreliable (they can be). But with the inline 6, there's really no excuse for putting a V8 in there.

Given the choice between going full ricer on my DD Civic and lumping a Jag, you'll see me on Honda Forum talking about when VTEC kicked in that time I smoked a built C5 Corvette in my EG3. Yo.

Yeah if its not a 12 then it up to you really. I hate it when people do it to Datsuns. I would get an XJ coupe. I like the 2 door.

I was following a series 1 XJ coupe on eBay, but it went for $1300 with all the floors rotted out of it. Right now I'm also looking for an XJS, but for whatever reason there aren't any around here right now...they'll turn up I'm sure. My XJ12 needs a brother.
